What the tour is actually like

You meet your guide at Colee Hammock Park, a shaded pocket park just off Las Olas. We fit your helmet, set your seat height, and give you ten minutes on the bike in the park so the pedal assist stops being a novelty and starts being fun. Then we roll — quiet streets first, then the waterfront, then the beach.

Because we cap the group at eight riders, the pace bends to you. If your group wants to stop and photograph a 200-foot yacht squeezing under a bridge, we stop. If everyone is strong and wants more miles along the sand, we add them. A guide with eight guests can answer every question; a guide with twenty cannot.

What you will see

Fort Lauderdale is called the Venice of America for a reason — there are around 165 miles of navigable waterways threaded through the city. On the bike you cross them, ride beside them, and get the angles that tour buses never reach: the back canals of Rio Vista, the New River from the Riverwalk, the yacht basin from the 17th Street Causeway, and the Atlantic from the beachfront path.

Between the views your guide fills in the history: the pioneer family who built the first trading post on the river, the boom-and-bust of the 1920s, why the beach looked the way it did in the spring break years, and which of the old Florida bars are still standing.

Who it suits

If you can ride a bicycle, you can do this tour. Pedal assist means the bridges are not a problem and you arrive at the beach without a soaked shirt. It works beautifully for couples, for cruise passengers with a few hours in port, for visiting parents, and for locals who have lived here for years and never seen the city from a saddle.

Travelling on your own? You are just as welcome. Solo riders can join any scheduled group tour for the standard $79 plus a $25 single-rider premium — you still get the small group, the same route, and a guide who will happily take your photo at the beach.

It is not a race and it is not an endurance event. It is ninety minutes of easy riding, a couple of photo stops, and a local telling you the truth about their own town.

Bring sunglasses, water and closed-toe shoes. We supply the e-bike, the SMITH MIPS helmet and the route knowledge. There is street parking around Colee Hammock Park, and if you would rather not drive we can point you at the nearest drop-off.
